Spurs will take a 4-1 lead into their second-leg with Burnley, while Man Utd will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit at Old Trafford against Derby. Second-leg ties 20th & 21st Jan.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists defender Kolo Toure will not leave the club in January.

Centre-back Toure, 27, recently had a transfer request turned down and has been linked with a move to Manchester City.

But Wenger said: “That is finished. We will not sell any players this month.”

Asked if Arsenal would be signing any players during the transfer window, Wenger admitted that a defensive midfielder was a “priority”.

“At the moment I cannot give you any good news but in this job no news is good news. Nothing has fallen through. We are on alert in the transfer market.”

Arsenal are reportedly interested in bringing Zenit St Petersburg forward Andrei Arshavin to the club.

But the Russians club Zenit St Petersburg are believed to be asking for £20m, which could price him out of a move to Arsenal.

“We want to spend money,” said Wenger. “But as everyone knows, and as the chairman has said, we have money available but we have limited resources.

“You want to spend it in the best way possible.”
