Inter’s Nigerian striker Obefemi Martins has expressed his desire for a move to the Premiership, with champions Chelsea his ideal destination.

“Even though there are other good teams like Arsenal and Manchester United in the Premiership, it has to be Chelsea for me,” he told Kick Off magazine.

Parma have signed Perugia defender Ferdinand Coly. The former Birmingham defender was keen to return to Serie A despite reports linking him with a move away from Italy.

Norwich striker Dean Ashton who has been linked with a move to a number of Premiership clubs, has signed a new one-year contract extension. The 22-year-old has signed a new 12-month extension on his contract, which runs out in 2009. Ashton was target for Wigan but has shown his commitment to the Canaries.

“I feel my ambition is matched by Norwich City football club,” said Ashton.

Stuttgart have signed Paris Saint Germain striker Danijel Ljuboja on a season-long loan.

Ljuboja was expected to leave the French but he rejected offers from Fiorentina and Osasuna, while Bolton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and Deportivo La Coruna all reported to have expressed an interest.

Real Sociedad star Nihat Kahveci has denied reports he has signed a pre-contract with Valencia. The Turkish star has just 12 months left on his contract but insists he will not start talking to clubs until contract talks with his current Real Sociedad are resolved.

“If we don’t reach an agreement then I could talk with Valencia or other teams that want me,” he said.

Everton are reportedly close to signing Inter winger Andy Van der Meyde for £2 million. The Serie A side have reduced the asking price for the talented Dutch international as they look to offload squad players.

The Toffees are also on the verge of signing Italian defender Matteo Ferrari from Roma on loan for a year by the end of the week. Everton will have the option to buy the player’ next summer for £3.7m.

Real Betis or on the verge of signing Brazilian striker Humberto Borges after a £1 million deal was agreed for the Parana player. Borges has scored 11 goals in 19 games this season helping his side to second spot in the Brazilian championship.
