Stuttgart president, Erwin Staudt has handed coach Giovanni Trapattoni a vote of confidence despite the club’s poor start to the season.

After picking up just one point from two Bundesliga games and a fortunate DFB Cup win over non-league Hoffenheim Trapattoni has come under pressure ahead of Saturday’s visit to Bremen.

But Staudt says the club will not be making any hasty decisions based on the evidence of just a few matches.

“I am completely sure that the way he (Trapattoni) is doing things will bring us to where we want to be,” he said.

Trapattoni has been criticised for dropping club captain Zvonimir Soldo, but Staudt reaffirmed his faith in the belaguered coach.

“Zvonimir Soldo hasn’t been put out to grass. The trainer is simply trying out a few variations in our formation. Soldo is still very much one of the leading personalities in our squad,” Staudt added.
