Juventus striker David Trezeguet has expressed delight at his goalscoring return to action in the Champions League after Juve swept pass Basle, beating the Swiss side 4-0.

‘I’m delighted because I am back and my knee held up fine, there were no problems with it. Of course it was great to get a goal so early,’ said Trezeguet.

‘After four games without a win we needed that victory and that was the important thing tonight – we got the result and we gave a good performance.’

Juventus coach Marcello Lippi was also pleased to see the Frenchman reunited with Alessandro Del Piero in attack.

‘Trezeguet is back and we are all very happy about that. The thing that most pleases me at the moment is that I have all my best players available apart from Igor Tudor,’ said Lippi.

‘We had 25 players available for this game and that is the first time this season I have been able to choose from the full roster.

‘Basel showed all the good things we had seen from them against Liverpool, Valenciaand Manchester United so far this season but it was obviously difficult for them after that second goal.’
