Turkish international midfielder Tugay has been the victim of a hit and run incident. Blackburn’s player of the year suffered minor injuries after being knocked off his bicycle in Germany.
The midfielder was on his way back to Rovers’ team hotel after training when a car hit him and knocked him to the ground, the driver sped away from the scene leaving Tugay dazed with cuts and bruises.
Blackburn are in the town of Waldhausen as part of their pre-season tour, manager Graeme Souness responded to the incident by banning his players from using the hotel’s bikes.
“He’s very, very lucky because he could have been killed. Apart from cuts and grazes to his arms and face, he escaped unharmed. The guy in the car didn’t even stop to see if he was OK, ” said Souness.
