Lars-Christer Olsson has resigned as chief executive of UEFA following the election of Michel Platini as president of Europe’s governing body.
“I have just signed an agreement with UEFA to stand down,” Olsson told Reuters.
“Unfortunately, I would have liked to stay on, but there was a difference of views on how we go forward under the new administration.”
Olsson succeeded Gerhard Aigner in 2004 and was a close ally of fellow Swede and outgoing president Lennart Johansson.
