Celtic v Liverpool

Fresh from beating Manchester United to win the Worthington Cup, Liverpool are in a fine run of form and Michael Owen has rediscovered his scoring touch.

Emile Hesky should be fit after a hamstring problem but Stephane Henchoz is still injured.

Celtic could welcome back Henrik Larsson who has missed the last month with a broken jaw. The Swede has scored 34 goals in 35 starts this season. Chris Sutton has a groin strain and Didier Agathe has a pulled hamstring.

Lazio v Besiktas

Besiktas are without Carlos Zago (suspended) and injured midfielders Tumer Metin and Ibrahim Uzulmez. Constantin Maldarasanu is ineligible.

Porto v Panathinaikos

They go into the match having recorded a 7-0 thrashing over Varziim in the Portugese Cup.

Panathinaikos have several players suspended – Leonidas Vokolos, Pantelis Konstantinidis, Vlaovic, Miltos Sapanis and Yittas Xenofon. But Jonas Kokka should be fit.

Malaga v Boavista

Boavista have several injury worries and are without Nuno Gomes, Pedro Santos, Nuno Frechaut, Erwin Sanchez and Jorge Silva. Elpidio Silva and Filipe Anunciacao are suspended.

The second legs will be played on 20 March.
