UEFA has released its short list of stadiums bidding to stage the 2010 and 2011 Champions League and UEFA Cup finals.

The stadiums in line to host the Champions League finals are: Fußball Arena in Munich, Mestalla in Valencia, Olympiastadion in Berlin, Santiago Bernabu in Madrid and Wembley Stadium in London.

The candidates to host the UEFA Cup are: the Emirates Stadium in London, Arena AufSchalke in Gelksenkirchen, Espanyol’s Olympic Montjuic in Barcelona, Arena in Hamburg Lansdowne Road in Dublin, and National in Bucharest.

UEFA selected these candidates based on capacity, infrastructure, facilities and functionality of the stadium concerned; legal documentation and guarantees (staging agreement and appendixes); accommodation and airport facilities; and rotation between different national associations.

Site visits will take place this October and November. A final decision is expected to be made by the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Liechtenstein on 27-28 March 2008.

The 2008 and 2009 UEFA Champions League finals will be played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow and the Stadio Olimpico in Rome respectively. The 2008 and 2009 UEFA Cup finals will be held at the City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester and the Sükrü Saraçoglu Stadium in Istanbul.
