Portugal midfielder Maniche, who admitted recently that he was unhappy with life in Russia, will remain at Dynamo Moscow, the Russian premier league club have confirmed.

“Maniche has a five-year contract with our club, therefore he is still a Dynamo player,” Dynamo general director Yuri Zavarzin told Sovietsky Sport.

Maniche, who was sold to Dynamo by Porto for the Russian league record €16m in May, has expressed his unhappiness with life in Moscow.

“I am not well, nor is my family. I don’t like the country, I don’t like the championship and I don’t like the weather,” the 27-year-old told the Portuguese press.

“I’ve already transmitted my dissatisfaction to my agent and right now it’s necessary to reach an understanding with Dynamo officials.”

But Zavarzin has played down reports of Maniche’s dissatisfaction.

“I haven’t heard anything from the player himself, that he is not happy or he doesn’t like playing for us,” said the Dynamo boss.

“Probably it was the media’s fault. They could have misunderstood him or made a wrong translation.”
