Valencia are determined to hang on to David Villa and David Silva following the Spanish duo’s eye-catching Euro 2008 displays.

Villa is currently the top scorer at the European Championship with four goals, while Silva has started every game in Spain’s march to the semi-finals.

A string of Premier League clubs have been linked with a bid for Villa, while Liverpool are reportedly keen on Silva.

“Our intention is to avoid the departures of our big stars, even if other big clubs want to sign them,” Valencia president Agustin Morera told reporters.

“We know there is interest from many clubs, but our stance is to reject any offers and begin the new season with all the players.”

Valencia’s technical secretary Juan Sanchez is also confident that striker Villa will stay at the club.

“I have the feeling that, ultimately, he is going to still be here,” Sanchez told AS.

“A lot has been said about him, but that is normal with such a great player and with what he is doing in the Euros.”

Sanchez also rejected rumours that Valencia have received an offer from Barcelona for Silva.

He added: “We have heard things about him, but there has been no specific amount on the table, neither from Barcelona nor any other team.”
