Juan Carlos Valeron has revealed his disappointment at being dropped from the Spain squad by Luis Aragones.

The Deportivo La Coruna playmaker has been a regular in recent years, but was dropped for the recent internationals against Belgium and Lithuania, as Aragones inroduced youngsters like Jose Antonio Reyes and Yeste into his squad.

Asked if he was upset at being dropped, he told AS: “Of course, yes.

“I don’t doubt that I miss not being with the national team.

“But I have to try and accept these situations and the decisions related to them.

“It hurt to be left out, but I believe I am taking it well.

“I don’t think what he (Aragones) has decided is wrong, it’s just how it is.

“There are some great footballers in Spain and I can’t be angry for not being there.

“The most important thing is that those who are there do the best possible.

“I don’t think Spain have missed Valeron.”
