Barcelona have completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Spanish champions and joins on a Bosman free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.

Van Bommel, who has been courted by a number of clubs, began his career at Fortuna Sittard before winning four Dutch titles with PSV.

The midfielder will arrive at Camp Nou in mid-June following Holland’s World Cup qualifiers against Romania and Finland.

Van Bommel becomes the sixth PSV player and the 17th Dutch player to join Barcelona, following in the footsteps of players like Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens, Ronald Koeman, the de Boer twins, and Phillip Cocu.
