Arsenal head to the Riverside this Saturday lunchtime knowing that they’ve only beaten Boro once in their last six head-to-heads.

Veteran Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has signed a new one-year contract extension with double winners.

“We have agreed a new one-year contract with Edwin,” said United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

“His experience, temperament, professionalism and performance level have not changed one bit since he has been with us.”

“Obviously, it will be his last year. He will be almost 40 then, which is a great credit to the lad. He has been absolutely marvellous here.”

Van der Sar joined United in a £5million deal in 2005 and helped the club to a domestic and European double last season.

The Dutch keeper has also played for Juventus and Ajax during his career and made 130 appearances for Holland.
