Ruud van Nistelrooy admits he would relish the prospect of former Manchester United team-mate Ronaldo, jining him at Real Madrid next season.

The Manchester United winger has been the subject of speculation about his future, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real both reportedly interested in securing his services.

The Dutch striker spent three seasons with Ronaldo at Old Trafford, but he has been impressed by the former Sporting Lisbon man’s form this season.

“He is a very good player despite being only 22 years old. The best in the world,” Van Nistelrooy told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

“Physically and technically he has learned a lot.

“For me it would be good if he came here. But it will be difficult to get Manchester United to let him escape.”

Van Nistelrooy added: “In training (at United) everything was good. There was chemistry.”

Ronaldo is currently in talks with United about extending his current contract, which expires in 2010.
