Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes the club’s loss of form is down in part to the loss of David Beckham.

United lost ground to Arsenal following a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Leeds on Saturday. Van Nistelrooy is convinced that the club are missing the England skipper who quit Old Trafford to join Real Madrid last summer.

“Becks is a missed here at United as a player as well as a person,” Van Nistelrooy said.

“From what I’ve seen of him in Spain, he’s doing really well.”

“With the language barrier, it’s not easy for a player to make a move like that.

“But Becks has put in some great performances for Real.”
