Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Nemanja Vidic will be out of action for ten days as a result of the leg injury which forced him to miss last weekend’s FA Cup defeat at the hands of Leeds United.
Vidic was forced to withdraw from the starting line-up game following the pre-match warm-up at Old Trafford, with Ferguson professing ignorance as to why Vidic had been unable to start the game.
The United manager has now revealed Vidic has been suffering with a nerve problem in his leg and that the player will miss Saturday’s trip to Birmingham City, as well as next weekend’s game against Burnley.
“He felt a bit of a problem with the right side of his leg and didn’t feel confident about playing the game,” Ferguson said. “I understand that because it was quite painful.
“We sent him to a specialist on Wednesday and the problem will be solved by some exercises we are going to have to give him now. He should be back in about ten days’ time.”
