Scotland coach Berti Vogts is expected to leave his post this week, despite the Scottish FA denying that he would be fired.

It is understood that an agreement has been reached between the Scottish Football Association and Vogts and his lawyer Andi Gross.

But an SFA spokesman said he did not expect any news before a board meeting later this week.

“We wouldn’t envisage anything before Thursday,” he said.

Former Everton and Rangers boss Walter Smith is the favourite to replace Vogts, with Gordon Strachan, who has managed at Coventry and Southampton, also a contender.
