Lyon missed the chance to reclaim top spot in Le Championnat as they were beaten 2-0 by Paris St Germain in the latest round of games in Ligue 1.

The win for PSG eased the pressure on under-fire coach Luis Fernandez, who has been the target of much criticism in recent weeks.

Goals from Gabriel Heinze and Talal El-Karkouri propelled PSG up to seventh place in the table, whilst Lyon stay second, two points behind leaders Nice.

Despite the win, Fernandez still seemed unsure about his fate at PSG.

“I don’t know what my future will be but tonight I’m a happy man.”

Joining Lyon on 31 points are Guingamp and Marseille, who both recorded victories last night, as well as Auxerre, who could only manage a 2-2 draw. Guingamp beat Nantes 2-0, thanks to goals from Didier Drogba and Hakim Saci, to go third, whilst Marseille overcame Sochaux 1-0 after a 39th minute Lucio de Costa Fernandao strike.

After having three points provisionally reinstated regarding their controversial game against Sedan in September, Auxerre also picked up another against Lille. Hitman Djibril Cisse scored both their goals.

Another man at the double was Ludovic Guly who helped his Monaco side go sixth with a 2-1 win at Montpellier, who are now bottom. They replace Rennes, who jump three places to 17th following a 3-1 away win at Strasbourg.

In the night’s two other matches, Troyes and Lens played out a goalless draw, whilst Bastia lost 1-0 at home to Sedan.
