Jonathan Woodgate has admitted that his season is over, but he will have been boosted by messages of support from his teammates.

Woodgate has yet to make a single competitive appearance for Real since moving to Madrid last summer as a result of a thigh injury.

There have been suggestions that the former Newcastle defender will never make a full recovery but Woodgate is adamant that he will beat his latest problem.

“The injury will not be the end of me,” said Woodgate.

“The doctors have told me that I’m out for the rest of the season.

“But I’m determined to play at the top again.”

Woodgate has been backed by team-mates Zinedine Zidane and Iker Casillas.

“He’s going through a bad time so all the other players at Real can do is support him,” said Zidane.

“We all wish him the best of luck. There is no reason why he can’t be a key player at Real next season.”

Casillas also wished Woodgate well.

“Every player at this club wants Jonathan to recuperate from this injury as soon as he can,” said the Madrid keeper.
