Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate believes he is growing accustomed to the demands of La Liga.

The former Newcastle defender has recently returned to action after 18 months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Woodgate was an impressive figure at the heart of the back four in the 2-0 weekend win at Real Betis, but he feels there is plenty more to come.

“I wouldn’t say I’m back to my best because that was only my fourth game,” said Woodgate.

“The more games I play the stronger I am going to get and better I will feel.”

Of the 2-0 win, Woodgate added: “We played well and it was a working man’s performance.”
