England defender Jonathan Woodgate has suffered a fresh injury setback in his attempted comeback from injury.

Woodgate has yet to kick a ball in anger for Real Madrid since his £13.4m move from Newcastle in the summer of 2004.

The England defender has been sidelined by persistent hamstring problems.

The 25-year-old reportedly broke down while training alone with Real’s medical staff.

Woodgate was training alone with Real’s staff while his team-mates are on a pre-season tour of Japan.
