They will stay on the outskirts at the Hotel JP. Their training base is 11 minutes away at the Santa Cruz stadium, a 50,000-capacity ground that is home to the Sao Paulo state club Botafogo.
Leite Lopes Airport is also nearby – which is just as well as France face two 700 mile-plus trips to venues in Salvador and Porto Alegre.
Didier Deschamps’ team’s opening match is against Honduras on June 15 in Porto Alegre, an 867 mile trip taking one hour 20 minutes by air. Five days later they play Switzerland in Salvador, a one hour 41 minute flight and a distance of 1,137 miles from their base. The last game, on June 25 is at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro against Ecuador. This is 320 miles from their host city with a flight time of 40 minutes.
