Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes he is on the verge of returning to full training after missing four months of the season because of a knee injury.

“I feel good, I’m confident and I hope to be training with the rest of the group soon, in one or two weeks,” the Spanish international the club’s website.

Xavi tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in training at the start of December and there were fears that he would miss the rest of the season and this summer’s World Cup finals.

However, he is confident of playing again before the end of the season.

“Some days the knee hurts and some days it doesn’t,” he said. “I want to be able to come back to help the team win the two titles it is competing for.”
