Swiss side Young Boys have sacked coach Hanspeter “Bidu” Zaugg after two seasons at the Bern club.

“We would like to thank Bidu Zaugg for his work and his commitment,” director of sport Marcel Hottiger said in a statement.

“Young Boys have made some important steps in the right direction during his time here but we have come to the conclusion that a new impetus is required.”

Hottiger said a successor would be named in the next few weeks with assistant coach Erminio Piserchia being put in charge in the interim.

With just one win in their last five games, the team have slipped to fifth in the league – eight points adrift of leaders FC Basel.
