Shalit Muni Reddy, who scored for Fiji in a 5-0 win over the Cook Islands in the OFC Under-17 Championship earlier this month, has died.
Reddy can be seen scoring the fourth goal in the accompanying video highlights of Fiji’s win.
He went missing while swimming with team-mates. His body was discovered a short time later, but attempts to revive him failed
“Shalit had been playing for Fiji Under-17s with distinction, he was a prospect that undoubtedly would have had a bright future in the game,” said OFC president David Chung.
“No words can fully express our grief and dismay at seeing this happen.”
