Acting Brazil coach Mario Zagallo has expressed his anger at Milan midfielder Serginho for asking not to be selected for next week’s friendly against South Korea.

Serginho was picked but thenasked not to passed over for match in Seoul, believing his best days were over. Flamengo’s Athirson was picked in his place.

“Everybody can get forgiveness one day but what Serginho has done does not merit it,” Zagallo said.

“It is an honour to wear the yellow shirt of Brazil but Serginho doesn’t know what that means.

“To be selected for Brazil is an honour for every player. Serginho has the right to not want to play but he should have said so before being selected.”

Zagallo, who is coaching Brazil for a fourth time until a permanent replacement for Luiz Felipe Scolari is found, has also been hit by injuries to Luizao of Hertha Berlin, Juan of Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint Germain’s Ronaldinho.

Arsenal are also expected to appeal for the exclusion of Gilberto Silva from the money-spinning match.
