Brazilian right-sided defender-cum-midfielder, Ze Maria, has signed for Inter on a two year contract.

The former Brazilian international has been with Perugia since 2000, but has opted to sign for Inter in a deal believed to be worth around £1.5m.

Following lengthy talks, the two clubs finally reached agreement.

“They wanted me and I wanted Inter,” Ze Maria tolf Inter’s official website. “I was hoping to arrive at such a great club and at the age of 31, this is a now or never opportunity. I need to show people that I deserve this chance.”

On being asked where he will play, he responded: “I’ll play where the coach tells me to. I’m not here to steal anyone’s place. I’ve joined this club to give an important contribution. I have great respect and no fear.”
