Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi will find out today if they are to be punished for the World Cup final incident that resulted in Zidane’s red card.

Zidane was sent off in extra-time when he headbutted Italy’s Materazzi in the chest after some verbal provocation from the defender.

The French captain claims Materazzi insulted his family, an allegation the Italian denies.

Zidane, 34, arrived at Fifa on Thursday to give evidence to the five-man disciplinary committee.

He is likely to receive a fine and a ban and could be stripped of his Golden Ball award as the best player in the tournament.

Zidane has travelled with French Football Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes and a lawyer.

Materazzi gave evidence to Fifa’s disciplinary committee last Friday.
