Raymond Domenech does not blame Zinedine Zidane for France’s defeat to Italy in the World Cup final, although he admits he has not come to terms with the loss.

Les Bleus lost to on penalties, while Italy’s victory was overshadowed by Zinedine Zidane’s dismissal in extra-time for headbutting Marco Materazzi.

“I never said I was angry at Zidane,” Domenech told L’Equipe.

“What I’m angry about is what happened after that as it eclipsed France’s performance and even Italy’s victory.

“I’m angry at the entire world but not at Zizou. He cracked up, that’s only human.”

Domenech has yet to relive the defeat, as he added: “I am not over it yet.

“It could take years.

“For me, it’s still a failure. I could never accept defeat. I still can’t.”
