Zinedine Zidane has moved to quell speculation that he intends to retire after this summer’s World Cup finals.

Reports from Spain earlier this month claimed Zidane was considering retiring in the summer – despite having 12 months remaining on his contract with Real Madrid.

Zidane, however, has dismissed the reports.

“I will go on playing until the end of the season, and then we will see in June,” Zidane told Canal Plus.

“Anyway it is not topical. We know the Spanish newspapers are fond of those kind of rumours. But I don’t want to pay it any attention.

“I will try, with my team-mates, to achieve a beautiful World Cup, and then we will see next season.

“I let people talk and I try to remain focused on what I have to do.”
