Leicester City are confident PFA Player of the year Riyad Mahrez will stay at the club, despite ongoing speculation about his future.

Mahrez has been a revelation this season, contributing heavily to Leicester’s Premier League success and yesterday his agent said that he was “50/50” to stay at the club.

However both Claudio Ranieri and vice-chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, are confident the mercurial winger will stay at least for one more season.

“It’s 99 per cent he will stay,” Ranieri said.

“I’m very, very confident. I suggest to all my players, ‘Stay one year more. Don’t go. If you go to another team, you might not get on the pitch’.”

Srivaddhanaprabha said: “They are good boys. They are good lads. They understand. Even Mahrez, I talked to him and said, ‘Are you concerned?’. He said, ‘No, no, I want to stay’. This is what he wants. He wants to stay.”
