Jacobson Adriaanse will replace Giovanni Trapattoni as coach of Salzburg next season, the club have confirmed.

The 60-year-old Dutchman, currently based in Qatar with Al-Saad Sport Club, was elected manager of the year in Portugal in 2006 after guiding Porto to the League and Cup double.

Adriaanse has also had spells as manager of Ajax and AZ Alkmaar in his native Holland.

The position with Salzburg became available following Italian Giovanni Trapattoni’s decision to coach the Republic of Ireland.
