Manchester City’s Bulgarian forward Valeri Bojinov faces six months on the sidelines after snapping an achilles tendon during the warm-up for yesterday’s Premier League defeat by Aston Villa.
Bojinov was preparing for his first start for City since recovering from a serious cruciate knee ligament injury sustained at the start of last season.
“It is a huge blow for Valeri,” City boss Mark Hughes said. “He has had a terrible spell with injury. We are all disappointed for him but he will have to come back again.”
City are already without injured striker Darius Vassell, who has been ruled out for at least two months.
