The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of this season Champions League competition has been made in Athens.

Liverpool, who knocked out the holders Barcelona on Tuesday night will face PSV Eindhoven, conquerors of Arsenal, in the next round.

Liverpool have already beaten PSV in the group stages, winning 2-0 at Anfield after a goalless draw in Holland.

The winners of that tie will meet the winners of the Valencia-Chelsea tie for a place in the semi-finals.

That raises the prospect of a repeat of the 2005 semi-final which saw Liverpool go through courtesy of Luis Garcia’s controversial goal.

In the only tie of the last eight not featuring an English club, six-time winners Milan face four-time winners Bayern Munich for a place in the semi-final. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Roma-Manchester United tie.

The final will be played in Athens on May 23 .
