Sergio Conceicao has rejoined the Portuguese champions FC Porto three days after leaving Lazio by mutual consent.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a successful spell in a previous spell with Porto winning two league titles and two Portuguese Cups. He left the club in 1998 to join Lazio, before subsequently joining Internazionale. His return to Lazio was was less successful and with Conceicao keen to represent Portugal at this summer’s EURO 2004 finals, the Serie A club allowed him to leave to allow him the opportunity of playing regular first team football.

“I am returning home,” he said.

“My strong feelings for the club were behind my decision. I know Porto very well and I know that we can win things together. It is a dream come true, I never forgot the wonderful times I had.

‘I want to settle quickly into the team and I know this will be easy as I have many friends here.”
