Cyprus coach Momcilo Vukotic has offered to resign after his side’s 4-1 EURO 2004 qualifying defeat to Slovenia.

“(It was) a clear and deserved victory for Slovenia,” he said.

“I will offermy resignation to the Cyprus FA since I am not satisfied with the way we have played our last four matches. We have had problems with the squad and in the last four matches my fears have proved to beright.”

The 52-year-old Serbian was appointed Cyprus’s first foreign coach in December 2001, replacing Takis Charalambous. Cyprus have won two, drawn two and lost six of their matches since Vukotic assumed control.
