Sheikh Mohammed has confirmed that his family are keen on buying Roma after their plans to purchase Liverpool ran into trouble.

DIC – the investment arm of the Government of Dubai – have been trying to invest in the English club for two years, but they have never been able to agree terms with previous owner David Moores or the club’s current co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Now Sheikh Mohammed has confirmed his family are interested in buying Roma.

Roma are owned by Italpetroli, who are linked to the Sensi family, with Franco Sensi the club’s president.

“I don’t follow a lot football, but I know my family want to negotiate for Roma and that there have been contacts,” Sheikh Mohammed told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
