Fiorentina have signed Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov, a player who had been tipped to join Chelsea.

Bojinov has scored prolifically for Lecce this season and has attracted the interest of Chelsea.

However, just days after Chelsea offered in the region of €12 million – Fiorentina have now agreed a deal worth €13 million.

Chilean Jaime Andres Valdes has moved to Lecce as part of the deal.

The signing was Fiorentina’s third major transfer coup following the arrival of Atalanta’s gifted young forward Giampaolo Pazzini in a deal worth €7.5m and Marco Donadel from Sampdoria.
