Italian midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has undergone a blood test, several days after refusing to take one, following Milan’s match with Roma at the weekend.

The Milan midfielder along with team-mate Giuseppe Pancaro, refused to take the test following Sunday’s game.

Gattuso has now had the test whilst with the national squad at their training camp, as they prepare for their World Cup qualifier with Scotland.

“When I entered in the anti-doping room there were about ten people and a big confusion,” explained Gattuso.

“They asked me: ‘Do you want to do a blood test?’ I asked if they were compulsory. The answer was no and so I decided so.

“I answered no because me and my team-mates aren’t animals. They can come when they want to make checks. At Milanello [Milan training HQ] and at my home too.

“For this reason I’ll have these checks here.”
