Andreas Hinkel is closing to sealing a move to Celtic after becoming frustrated at a lack of opportunities at Sevilla.

The Germany international has hardly played for the Spanish side this season and is eager to leave the club.

Hinkel is reported to have agreed personal terms with Celtic and claims “now it is down to the clubs to speak” in order to agree a transfer fee.

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is keen to bolster his full-back options after losing Mark Wilson and Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe to long-term injuries.

“I have not had the opportunities to demonstrate my ability here,” Hinkel told Marca.

“Everything is good here, the people, the club and the team but I am not happy on the bench, I need to play.

“The first season was good as I played 13 games in the league, eight in the Uefa Cup and five in the Copa del Rey but this year, despite working hard in the summer, I have barely played at all.”
