Newcastle are out of the bottom three after Alan Shearer’s side beat North-east rivals Middlesbrough 3-1. But with just two games left can they still beat the drop?

Diego Milito’s agent has hinted that Inter are leading the race to sign the Genoa striker.

Milito has become a hot property this season after scoring 19 league goals from 29 appearances.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club this summer and agent Fernando Hidalgo recently admitted there had been plenty of interest.

“He has had a lot of requests and he has already shown his value,” Hidalgo told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I had a meeting with Inter yesterday where I’ve got an official interest for him, but the player is still under contract with Genoa.

“It is an important phase of the Italian League and for this reason we don’t want to disturb my client’s mind by talking now of numbers, sums and contracts.

“I agreed with Inter officials that at the end of the league we will have to meet to define the details. Milito would be a good help for (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic.”

Hidalgo added. “Anyway, I must say there are other sides who have spoken with me: other Italian and foreign clubs. But it’s normal with Inter there is a privileged relationship.”
