Henrik Larsson could miss the rest of the season after having surgery on a torn knee ligament.

The Swede was taken off during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on Saturday night.

The cclub decided that Larsson required an operation and the procedure was carried out on Monday morning at Asepeyo Clinic.

The surgeons discovered a tear in the anterior ligament meaning it is unlikely the Swede will return before the end of the season.

Larsson is the third Barcelona player this season to suffer knee ligament damage, following similar injuries to Gabri and Thiago Motta.
