Dundee United boss Craig Levein ha confirmed he will meet with the Scottish Football Association to discuss the role of Scotland coach.

The SFA has approached United to request permission to speak to Levein regarding the possibility of replacing George Burley, who was sacked last month.

“I’ll take the team for training this morning and then head to Tannadice to have a meeting with the chairman Stephen Thompson,” Levein told Sky Sports News.

“Whatever we decide I will meet with the Scottish FA to hear what they have to say.”

United director Derek Robertson has outlined the club’s determination to retain Levein, who has spent over three years in charge at Tannadice.

Robertson said: “I can confirm we have had a direct approach from the Scottish FA requesting to speak to our manager.

“Craig Levein is under a long-term contract at Tannadice and we would like to keep him.”
