Manchester United are poised to complete the signing of 18-year-old Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo.
United are expected to pay Dalian Shide up to £3.5m for Dong.
“Dong’s contract will be signed in one or two days,” confirmed Dalian’s general manager Lin Lefeng.
The transfer would raise United’s profile in Asia following the opening of their first theme restaurant and bar in the Chinese city of Chengdu.
Dong was identified as the best of a group of youngsters sent by China’s leading clubs to England for trials in August.
