Milan been forced to deny newspaper reports claiming Carlo Ancelotti is being lined up for a move to Chelsea.

It has been claimed that Jose Mourinho could be replaced by the Italian coach at the end of the season, amid the continuing internal struggle at Stamford Bridge.

Relations between owner Roman Abramovich have plummeted, with Andrii Shevchenko seemingly at the heart of the dispute.

The Ukrainian striker has struggled to make an impact since his move from Milan last summer and with Mourinho seemingly reluctant to be held to ransom over the player, there has been speculation that the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich, may opt to dispense with the coach rather than the misfiring striker.

Reports that Ancelotti, who enjoyed a good working relationship with Shevchenko at Milan, could be in line for the Chelsea hot spot, will put Mourinho’s position under further scrutinty.

However, Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida was eager to quell the speculation, reminding reporters that Ancelotti is still under contract with the club.

“Ancelotti has a contract with Milan and he will stay,” confirmed Braida.

“What has been said in the press is all gossip, there’s absolutely nothing.”
