Inter president Massimo Moratti believes Jose Mourinho is already vindicating the club’s decision to appoint him as coach.

Mourinho took over at the Giuseppe Meazza in the summer following Roberto Mancini’s departure and Moratti is confident that the former Chelsea boss is turning out to be the right man for the job.

“I think he has given results back to the squad in such a short space of time,” Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Certainly when I chose him I was convinced I had chosen the best, and so I’m happy that he’s showing it.”

Juventus are level on points with Inter and Moratti expects them, along with city rivals Milan and Roma, to compete for the title this season.

He added: “Juve are at the top of the standings with us. It’s an old duel, but on a new basis.

“Certainly Juventus have started positively like us. But then you have seen also how Roma and Milan have immediately recovered (from poor starts).

“From these four sides, the winner will emerge.”
