Real Madrid striker Michael Owen is set for a return to Liverpool, according to reports.

Owen, whose position at Madrid has come under scrutiny following the arrival at the Bernabeu of Robinho and Julio Baptista, has been linked with a return to England.

Although Liverpool boss boss Rafael Benitez has denied he is interested in buying a striker, reports indicate that Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse could soon be on their way out of Anfield.

Baros could move to Aston Villa and Cisse is understood to be interesting French club Lyon.

The French champions, boosted by the £26m they received from the transfer of Michael Essien to Chelsea, have money to spend and their manager Gerard Houllier signed Cisse for Liverpool when in charge at Anfield.

Liverpool received £8m and Antonio Nunez for Owen when they sold him last summer and Real are believed to want £10m for the hitman.
