Jamie Pachaco has returned to coach Boavista in place of Zeljko Petrovic, who quit last weekend after Boavista lost 4-0 at home to Nacional.

Pacheco led Boavista to their only Portuguese league title in 2001. But they currently lie fourth from bottom of the league standings with seven points from seven matches.

Former Yugoslav international Petrovic took over Boavista in August after Jesualdo Ferreira quit to take over cross-town rivals FC Porto following the sacking of Co Adriaanse.

Pacheco, 48, has signed a deal until the end of the season. He previously quit as Boavista coach in April 2005 following a poor run. His appointment means all the sides in Portugal’s top division are now managed by Portuguese coaches for the first time in 72 years.
