Barcelona are still Copa Del Rey favourites despite drawing 0-0 at home to Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday night

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has defended the club’s general director, Jorge Valdano, from criticism from coach Jose Mourinho..

The Portuguese coach has angered the Real board with his actions of late, which have included criticising referees.

Mourinho spoke out against the match officials following a 1-0 win over Sevilla last weekend and blasted Valdano for failing to defend the club’s interests.

Perez, though keen to keep a lid on the issue, has warned Mourinho about his future conduct.

“It’s customary at this club not to speak about referees,” said the Real supremo.

“What we had to say about the officials Jorge Valdano already said.

“He’s our spokesman and the man who represents the image of our club best, and everything that he had to say he’s already said.

“What Mourinho said was an anecdote and an accident. Now we have to look to the future.”
