It leaves Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola with a selection headache as fellow centre-back Gerard Pique is suspended for the game. Guardiola may opt to pair Eric Abidal and Sergio Busquets in central defence.
Arsenal are also dealing with severe injury problems, with Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie and Alex Song definitely out, while skipper Cesc Fabregas is rated 90 per cent likely to play by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
